I bought this in 2000. A friend of mine knew I was looking for a car and he found it at a swap meet. He told me about it and I went to look at it and talked the previous owner down from 4,500 to 3,900.
The motor had been rebuilt. It wasn't cleaned up or painted so that had to be done. The exterior body paint was about a year old when I got the car. Seats, liner, and carpet had been all been redone.
It mostly need cosmetic work, under the hood and some damage trim on the body and the bumpers were rough. So I replaced a lot of the trim from parts at swap meets and a secret Galaxy grave yard.
Its a 289, with matching numbers, with a two speed Fordomatic automatic transmission. I tore down part of the engine, repainted the firewall and inner fenders and then put the chrome dress up kit on the motor. I had the bumpers straightened and rechromed at Pulido Plating in Balch Springs, TX . I changed it over from a single exhaust to duals with glass packs. I added the deluxe spinner type wheel covers.
The dice and the steering wheel spinner were given to me by Studebaker Steve, the friend that found the car for me. He said if you have an old car, you had to have the wheel spinner and dice.
